Fused Glass Coasters with Larry Pile
Larry Pile brings his colorful cut glass for us to assemble into customized coasters for holiday giving (or keeping!)
Each student will make four coasters measuring 4″ square and will decorate their pieces using glass frit, small cut squares, and round fuseable pebbles.
Larry will also talk about screen printing, mid-century modern design, and other topics. Students get to see their finished work within about 10 days of the class.
Invite your friends and family – there are no previous glass skills necessary – and you can bring your own snacks and drinks, or imbibe some of ours.
Tickets HERE!
$100
Create a mid century dish of your dreams with Larry’s guidance; make one 12″ x 14″ platter or 2 8″x 8″ plates.
Choose between a number of colors of fuse-able glass and add decorative squares, sticks, stringer, ‘babies’, frit, and more. Double stack the squares to get that cool modern look. Your pieces are guaranteed to elicit compliments when you present them full of holiday treats in a few short months.
Larry is one of our most beloved instructors, and his classes always fill up. Reserved a space for you and a friend!

Ever want to try painting on silk satin? Well, Valery does it for a living and has all the materials. She can guide you while you have time to do your own experiment in silk painting.
First we will experiment on scraps of silk. You’ll find colors you want to work with and shapes and “textures” you want to develop into a design. You’ll learn how the dye runs and how adding water
blends colors. I’ll teach about Guta – a quick drying resist – that will keep the liquid dyes in spaces rather than blend with the other colors and simple candle wax melted into the silk to resist the liquid dye. I’ll show how easy it is to set these dyes with a hot Iron.
You will purchase a hemmed silk satin scarf from me at cost. On a board you will lay scarf out. After you choose your colors and brushes there’s nothing to do but start. We cant wait to see what you come up with! Expect surprises.
Instructor will supply poster board, pins, brushes, newspaper, palates, guta, blow dryer, markers, sponges, iron, wax, fabric dye crayons.
Students can bring their own natural fiber scarves, light weight natural fiber fabrics, dyes, acrylic paint, design ideas, apron, dish washing gloves (dyes dye all natural fiber i.e. hands) rags to sop up spills,
scissors,
Contact us with questions – like – how do I tell if a scarf is natural fiber or synthetic?
(Materials fee of $25 is included in cost of class and includes a white silk scarf)
Class fee $65.00

If you signed up and paid and the class you wanted doesn’t make, we’ll let you know via email and allow for reschedule for the same or another class. (if there’s no desired class, repayment will be made in the same form as originally paid.) If the class you later take costs more, payment for the difference will be due.
Should you need to cancel or reschedule a class at Makers Connect, we require 36 hours notice. A full refund will be issued or you may request a Class Credit to be used toward another class we offer. If a cancellation is received less than 72 hours prior to the class, no refund or Class Credit will be issued. This allows the teachers to be fully prepared for the correct number of students and to allow for time to fill the slot in classes that often have a waiting list.
Also, please don’t assume we’ll have space for a friend on the day of class – though we love the enthusiastic sharing of information, there are many classes that require specific tools that we might simply not have enough of and we don’t wish to disappoint. Just call or email ahead and see if we can accommodate your friends!
